Overhaul recommends that drivers carrying PCs and GPUs be vigilant for suspicious activity, such as being followed from origin or watched while at a stop and communicate any such activity to dispatch and/or a remote monitoring center. Team drivers should be utilized so loads are not left unattended, and unnecessary stopping, especially within the redzone, should be avoided. Additionally, shippers of PCs and GPUs and other highly targeted cargo should be on alert for suspicious activity at origin facilities, such as potential surveillance or suspicious individuals asking questions of staff or drivers.

Incident: Product Targeting – Crypto Mining Machines and Components via Straight Trailer Theft and Facility Burglary
Overhaul has learned of a Central American Theft Crew operating mainly in the Inland Empire area of Southern California targeting the PC components necessary to assemble crypto currency mining machines.
Crypto currency mining machines are typically comprised of multiple (6-12) compatible, latest generation GPU units on a specialty motherboard. In addition to separate components, thieves may also be targeting finished PCs that can be stripped of their GPUs.
This crew operates with several teams and has been known to target loaded trailers for large scale pilferage as well as perform facility burglaries.
Contextual intelligence, remote compliance monitoring, real time visibility, and an immediate escalation process with a path to effective law enforcement engagement are critical to recognizing and recovering stolen cargo.
