Frequently asked questions
Overhaul FraudWatch is a freight fraud prevention solution that helps identify potential fraud before your shipments leave the origin. By evaluating carrier, driver, and network risk using proprietary intelligence, trusted third-party data, and industry sources, FraudWatch provides actionable insights that help teams make informed decisions throughout the shipment lifecycle.
FraudWatch evaluates risk at multiple points before a shipment departs, helping your team identify potential issues before freight is released. Depending on your workflow, FraudWatch can be used during carrier selection, shipment creation, gate-in and pickup verification. Risk insights are available through dedicated dashboards and can also be surfaced directly within Shipment Connect, allowing users to mitigate potential risks without leaving their operational workflow.
FraudWatch provides three views of risk.
- Carrier Risk evaluates carriers using fraud intelligence, compliance information, operating authority, historical activity, and other relevant risk indicators.
- Driver Risk evaluates drivers using identity verification history, known bad actor intelligence, and previous activity within the Overhaul platform.
- Network Risk provides an aggregate view of the carriers in your transportation network, surfacing new risks and overall risk trends across your operation. Each view is designed to provide both high-level visibility and detailed insights that support operational decision-making.
OverhaulFraudWatch assigns risk scores on a scale from 0 to 100, with lower scores indicating lower identified risk and higher scores indicating greater potential risk based on the available information. Risk scores are designed to support decision-making and should be considered alongside your organization's internal policies, knowledge and operational processes.
Overhaul FraudWatch combines multiple sources of intelligence to evaluate risk, including proprietary Overhaul intelligence, trusted third-party data, publicly available industry information (such as FMCSA data where applicable), and activity captured across the Overhaul platform. Risk scores are updated as new information becomes available, helping ensure customers have access to the latest available intelligence when evaluating carriers and drivers.
The factors used to generate a risk score vary depending on whether FraudWatch is evaluating a carrier, driver, or your transportation network. Examples of information considered may include identity verification results, known bad actor intelligence, regulatory and operating authority information, compliance history, historical shipment activity, operational scale and experience, and other fraud-related intelligence signals.
No. Shipments do not need to be tracked in the Overhaul platform to use FraudWatch. You can access FraudWatch directly through the FraudWatch dashboard or integrate it via API into your existing TMS.
FraudWatch includes dedicated dashboards for Carrier Risk, Driver Risk, and Network Risk. Organizations using Shipment Connect can also display FraudWatch risk information directly within shipment creation and pickup workflows, allowing users to review and mitigate risk as part of their normal operational process.
Each risk score includes additional context to help explain why it was assigned. Depending on the dashboard, users can review the factors contributing to the score, detailed score breakdowns, relevant risk indicators, and historical trends and KPI metrics. This additional context helps users understand changes in risk over time and make informed operational decisions.
Carrier Risk Scores are generated automatically whenever a carrier is evaluated in FraudWatch. This includes when users search for carriers in the FraudWatch dashboards, when carriers are added to shipments through supported Overhaul workflows, such as Shipment Connect, as carrier/driver data changes and when Overhaul updates it’s risk scoring engine. FraudWatch uses the available carrier information, including the USDOT number where applicable, to generate the risk score and supporting insights.
Yes. FraudWatch provides detailed score breakdowns that explain the factors contributing to each score, allowing users to better understand identified risks and determine whether additional review is appropriate.
A higher risk score indicates that additional review may be appropriate before allowing a shipment to proceed. FraudWatch provides the information needed to investigate identified risks, while your organization's internal policies determine whether a carrier or driver should be approved, rejected, or escalated for further review. Organizations can also configure alerts, approval workflows and automated decisions to ensure operational efficiency in a wide variety of contexts.
While many carrier risk solutions rely primarily on publicly available regulatory data, FraudWatch combines proprietary Overhaul intelligence, trusted third-party data, and activity captured across the Overhaul platform to provide a broader view of fraud risk. Because FraudWatch is integrated into the Overhaul platform, risk insights can be surfaced throughout operational workflows, including carrier booking/selection, shipment creation, gate-in and pickup verification, helping teams identify potential fraud before a shipment departs.
No. FraudWatch is designed to complement your existing carrier qualification, compliance, and fraud prevention processes by providing additional intelligence to risk managers and compliant mitigation handling to ground staff - at all stages of the journey.
